The lan cable part of the cable is CAT5E with two twisted pairs and power wires. It is used to run the video to the CCTV Camera, WLAN Home Security Systems, IP Security Camera, CATV-community antenna television.
More about CCTV CAT5E Cable
This is a Siamese CCTV CAT5E Cable, which is a combination of CAT5E lan cable and 18AWG power cables. This cable is with 4 twisted pairs so you can rest assured that you are getting a good quality cable for you surveillance camera setup. Power cables can make sure of enough voltage during the long distance transmission
If you have a camera that is PoE, you can run that single Cat5e cable and you'll have video and power going through the same cable. However, if your camera is not PoE, you will need a dedicated power source to power the camera. The combined Cat5e cable will still be good as it's with 2DC power cables and you won't worry about the shortage of powers.
Currently, 2 types of wiring are widely used for IP security cameras:Cat6 or Cat5e. Both are twisted pair cabling.
Cat5E is an enhanced type comparing the traditional Cat5 cable, and its speed is up to 10 times faster than Cat5 cable. This was considered the standard cable to use in the past 10 years. It can handle up 1,000 Mbps of bandwidth.
Cat6 is slowly replacing the standard cat5e cable and becoming a better choice for many network related installations. It allows for ten times the amount of bandwidth, capable of 10,000 Mbps of bandwidth.
WHAT CABLE SHOULD BE USED FOR SECURITY CAMERAS?
Both cables are a good choice for the security cameras. Currently, Cat5e cable is more than enough bandwidth for most IP security cameras on the market. This makes it a great choice for most surveillance installations. Almost all IP security cameras currently use less than a 100/mbps of bandwidth making cat5e a better choice.
